Incas Student Field Trip Details and Prices

Sample Itinerary for Language/geography and cultural programme


Day 1:  Arrival in Lima 
Transfer to hotel Bonbini

Day 2:Lima city tour
Lodging: Hotel Bonbini
Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch
 
After breakfast we will visit the beautiful central
area of Lima with its unique character and colonial gems.
A walk to discover details about this City named City of Kings in colonial times, and then we will have lunch. This will be a treat at a classic spot full of Peruvian flavours.
After lunch we will also visit the convent and church of San Francisco including the underground Catacombs. 
 
DAY 3 - Bus to Huancayo
Lodging: Casa de la Abuela
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Leaving early we will take a spectacular bus trip through the Andes Mountains, travelling over a pass over 4,800 m.a.s.l.  We will pass mountain communities, lakes, mining towns and arrive in the Mantaro valley in the afternoon. The trip takes about 7 hours.

DAY 4 - Market visit and Arqueological visit.
Lodging: Homestay
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Today is market day in a small community outside of Huancayo so we will visit this town and enjoy the local atmosphere.  Later we will take a walk to visit some fascinating pre-Inca ruins and learn about the history of the valley. 

DAY 5 - Visit Orphanage and the Village of Cochas.
Lodging: Homestay
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch (Pachamanca) and dinner
This morning we will visit a local orphanage and we will take some of the children with us on a trip to a village where they make the wonderful carved gourds.  We will enjoy a lovely local lunch in this community then we will walk back to town.  We can visit the amazing Parque de la Identidad and enjoy some picarones at the local Plaza.

DAY 6 - Mantaro Craft  Valley Excursion
Lodging: Homestay
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Today we will travel by bus visiting other craft villages of the Mantaro Valley.  We will visit Santa Rosa de Ocopa Monastery and learn more about the Andean life and history  of this valley.

Day 7 - Special visit to the Huaytapallana mountains
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch / dinner         
Leaving at 9 am. we will take a bus up the valley to the Huaytapallana Mountain, visit a small community school of Acopalca, then continuing on we will spend time with llama shepherds in their traditional homes. This is a fascinating look at a very special way of life unchanged for hundreds of years. We will enjoy a walk in the mountains now that you are acclimatised!  We will take a very comfortable night bus back to Lima, arriving for breakfast.

DAY 8 - Resting morning. Lima Museum
Lodging: Bonbini
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch
Early arrival in Lima we get to our Hotel , so we can have a rest then breakfast and take the morning to get our laundry done. Get postcards to send to family and friends and catch up with our emails. We get together for lunch to enjoy another nice lunch.      
After lunch we will visit a special museum with history, arts and crafts all in one place.

DAY 9 - Flight to the Jungle 
Lodging: Jungle lodge
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch / dinner
         
We will catch an early flight to Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon Jungle.  After leaving our big luggage in a Hotel we will travel down the Madre de Dios River enjoying the fabulous wildlife of this incredible place.  We will take an hour walk to the Sandoval lake where we will stay in a jungle lodge.

DAY 10 –Jungle Visit
Lodging: Jungle lodge
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch / dinner
We get up very early to enjoy the waking up of the jungle! We go to the lake with canoes to look for the giant otters…After breakfast we will take a walk through the forest to learn about plants, insects   and how people have made this a living place for humans.
After lunch we will take a boat trip out to look for birds, maybe get some piranhas and other fascinating jungle wildlife!

DAY 11 –Flight to Cusco 
Lodging: Hotel Kollyur
Meals included: Breakfast /lunch
           
We have another early start.  We walk back to the Madre de Dios river, travel by boat to Puerto Maldonado and take a flight to Cuzco, the City of the Incas. In the afternoon we will enjoy a walking tour of this incredible city.

DAY 12 –Sacred Valley Tour and train to Aguas Calientes
Lodging: Hotel La Cabaña
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch
Leaving Cusco we will visit the wonderful stone structures at Sacsayhuaman, then following the Urubamba Valley we will stop at the Village of Pisac and walk around these wonderful Inca ruins and enjoy the local craft market.  We will visit the most well preserved Inca village of Ollantaytambo.  From there we take the train to Aguas Calientes.  There are some lovely hot pools here if you wish to enjoy them!

DAY 13 –Machu Picchu
Lodging: Hotel  Kollyur
Meals included: Breakfast
We need to start early and catch the first bus up the Machu Picchu to see the sunrise….unforgettable!!  We will have a guided tour of Mach Picchu and then have time to enjoy, walk some more or climb up to Huayna Picchu (about 45 mins)
After lunch we will catch our train back to Cusco from Aguas Calientes.

DAY 14: Free day in Cusco
Lodging: Hotel Kollyur
Meals included: Breakfast
You have a day to catch up on washing, emails  and to
explore this fascinating city.

DAY 15:  Bus trip to Puno
Lodging: Hotel  Utama
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch
               
We travel through the lovely altiplano by bus to Puno at 3,860 m.a.s.l.  We will stop on the way to visit a wonderful colonial church at Andayhuaylillas and the Wiracocha Temple at Raqchi. We will arrive at one of the highest cities in the world in the late afternoon.

DAY 16: Titicaca lake, Uros floating Islands and Taquile island.
Lodging: Home stays
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch / dinner
               
At 7am we will take a boat to visit the fascinating floating islands, then we will continue on to the Taquile Island. We will stay the night on Taquile Island and enjoy the warmth and hospitality of this fascinating place.


DAY 17: Return to Puno, visit Sillustani. Flight to Lima
Lodging: Hotel Utama
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch
After a nice breakfast together we will visit a local school in Taquile then we continue our walk to the port to take our boat back to Puno arriving in the evening.


DAY 18: Flight back to Lima. Visit to Sillustani
Lodging: Hotel Bonbini
Meals included: Breakfast / dinner
We depart from Puno after breakfast to the amazing Sillustani archaeological group,  a sacred area where you can see the old pre-Inca burial areas.  A picnic lunch will be served at this amazing location, and then we will continue to Juliaca to take our flight back to Lima.
At arrival in Lima we get our transfer to Bonbini Hotel.

DAY 19: Shopping in Lima and farewell dinner.
Lodging: Hotel Bonbini
Meals included: Breakfast / lunch / dinner
Today is our last day in Lima and we will provide you with a special shopping opportunity
We are sure you will get something special for all those special people who will enjoy your pictures, stories and gifts, of course!
A farewell dinner will be served at a very special place to end our memorable time in this land of Incas del Peru.

Day 20: Transfer to airport.
